These larger track rod end and small ball joint dust boots are suitable for larger track rod ends and drag link ends, on vehicles such as Ford Transits. They are also suitable for vehicles with small ball joints such as Ford Fiesta 1 and 2, Astra and Cavalier, Clio and vehicles with small track control arms such as Escort 1, 2, 3 and 4, Fiat 127 and 128.

Exceptions are vehicles that use pinch bolts instead of nuts on the ball joints, as the shank is usually about 16 mm (boot 4 should fit those).

Unfortunately there are no official application lists available for any boots and no guarantee they will fit any specific models. But using our knowledge and feedback by kind customers, we have attempted to list some fitments below. Fitment List ©2009.

Saab The ball joint boots fitted my Saab 900s perfectly. (With regard to the Saab range, it is recommended this boot, only if the ball joint has a nut on it. If it is retained by a pinch bolt, an educated guess would be the track control arm and ball joint boot  also sold, as it has a larger diameter central hole).

Suzuki Carry front suspension arm. Cappuccino, ball joints on front wishbones 2 each side, rear wishbones 2 each side and 2 adjustable rear tie rods 1 each side.

Vauxhall/Opel Astra, Cavalier, Corsa, Nova. The boots fitted perfectly and compressed down to less than 10 mm, on the idler link tapered pin ball joint Y reg 2001 Opel Omega.

Westfield later type top ball joints. (These are Transit drag link I think) assumed they would also fit the bottom ball joints. These are definitely from a Marina.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you supply clips to retain the boots?

From experience the boots usually hold nicely onto the joints without metal clips and often retain better without them. Unless the replacement boot is exactly the same size as the original, fitting or refitting a metal clip can pinch the boot and leave a gap for grease to escape and water to ingress. Plus some metal double row metal clips are very difficult to fit.

The UK MOT obviously has rigid guidelines, although a failure or pass is often down to the individual examiner’s interpretation. Examiners have been known to have said only damage matters and if the compression holds the boot in place, it isn’t essential to have clips. If you are in doubt, please speak to your MOT testing station first.
